Frequently asked questions

How do I pay — is a deposit required?

No payment is needed to enquire. Send your dates and group size and we confirm availability within 24 hours. A 30% deposit then secures your dates, and the balance is due 14 days before you travel. Booked and operated directly by JTTT — a local Chiang Rai team, not a reseller.

What hotels are included, and can I get a single room?

Prices include comfortable 3–4★ twin-share hotels with breakfast (3 nights Chiang Mai + 2 nights Chiang Rai). Prefer 4–5★ or a private room? We will quote it — the single-room supplement is +฿6,000 for the 5 nights.

Is it really private? Can we customise it?

Yes — your group only, your own guide and vehicle the whole way, including the inter-city crossing. The pace and stops are flexible, you can swap the Chiang Rai mountain day for a full-day jungle trek at no extra cost, or add an extra night.

Why start in Chiang Mai (reverse)?

If you arrive into Chiang Mai it saves a transfer — you begin right away and finish in Chiang Rai. Same tour, same price; we run both directions with weekly departures and can also arrange private dates.

Is the elephant experience ethical?

Yes. The itinerary includes a morning at a rescue valley where you watch the herd from a respectful distance — no riding, no bathing, no shows, no hooks. We only work with parks that put animal welfare first — for example Kanta Elephant Sanctuary or a similar ethical park; your exact park is confirmed in your booking pack.

What is your cancellation policy?

This is a multi-day tour booked with a 30% deposit. The deposit is non-refundable — we pre-book hotels, vehicles and guides for you in advance. If you cancel 14 or more days before departure you forfeit only the deposit; for cancellations within 14 days of departure or a no-show, the full tour price is charged.

How fit do I need to be?

Easy to moderate. Expect stairs and some uneven paths at temples and waterfalls, but nothing technical — and because the tour is private, the pace is always yours. Doi Inthanon has an easy boardwalk at the summit.

Is it suitable for children or older travellers?

Yes. Children from 4 years are welcome (child seat on request), and the pace works well for older travellers — there is an elevator at Wat Huay Pla Kang and a funicular at Doi Suthep. Tell us about any mobility needs and we plan around them.

Can you cater for vegetarian, vegan, halal or allergies?

Yes — just tell us when you book. Breakfasts are at your hotels and we choose lunch restaurants that can cook for your needs.

We are only 2 people — is it still fully private?

Yes. Two travellers get the same private guide and vehicle for all 6 days at ฿34,900 per person. We never merge you with another group.

Which months are best?

November to February is the classic cool season. May to October is greener, quieter and just as beautiful — see the season guide above. We run weekly departures all year.

Who will be our guide and driver?

Your tour is run by JTTT's own team of licensed, English-speaking local guides and professional drivers. Full guide, driver and vehicle details are sent to you (or your agency) in writing 7 days before departure, so you know exactly who is picking you up.
