Prices we will not quote until we have re-checked them
We would rather leave a gap than print a number that sends you to a ticket window with the wrong money. These places are open and worth visiting, but the fees circulating online are years out of date, so ask at the gate:
- Mae Fah Luang Garden and Doi Tung Royal Villa — sold individually and as a combined ticket. The rates you will find online date from 2018.
- Doi Tung Tree Top Walk — there is a minimum height and age for this one, so ask before you queue.
- Singha Park — entry to the grounds and the shuttle around the estate are charged separately.
Practical notes for temple days
- Bring cash. None of the ticket windows above take cards. Small notes make life easier.
- Cover shoulders and knees at Wat Rong Khun, the Blue Temple and Wat Huay Pla Kang. A scarf is enough — without it you will be turned away at the White Temple.
- Shoes come off before you step inside any temple building.
- No photography inside the White Temple’s main hall. Everywhere else outdoors is fine.
- Mondays catch people out — the Hall of Opium is closed, so a Golden Triangle day needs reordering.
- February to April is the northern burning season. Views from high points can be hazy; the temples themselves are unaffected.

How much is the White Temple entrance fee in 2026?
฿200 for foreign visitors. It rose from ฿100 on 1 January 2026. Thai nationals, visitors aged 70 and over and children under 120 cm go in free, and the ticket includes the Cave of Art.
Is the Blue Temple free?
Yes. There is no ticket window at Wat Rong Suea Ten, only a donation box by the door.
How much is the Black House?
฿80 at Baan Dam Museum. Allow an hour if you want to walk to the far end of the garden.
Do I have to pay to see the Big Buddha?
The grounds at Wat Huay Pla Kang are free. The only charge is ฿40 for the lift up inside the Guan Yin statue.
What do all the entrance fees add up to for a Chiang Rai day trip?
On the usual highlights loop the gate fees come to about ฿630 per person — White Temple ฿200, Black House ฿80, the long-neck village ฿300 and the House of Opium ฿50. The Blue Temple, the Big Buddha grounds, the tea plantation and the Golden Triangle viewpoint cost nothing. Bring the cash in small notes, since none of the windows take cards.
